Hello to all those who still stick around, I am so glad you are here. My life has been a bit of a whirlwind the last few months and the blog has taken a back seat. You may have seen that my Instagram is still going so I have been keeping, those of you who follow me, in the loop.

For those who don’t, you can catch up here and you will see that my posts are all happening in Berlin, Germany. Yes, the reason for my extreme absence from my blog has been a major relocation to this vibey, awesome city that I now call home.

While it’s true in most places that eating out is more expensive than eating in, here in Berlin the gap between them seems even wider to the gap in Cape Town. Which means we eat in a lot more now than we did back in CT. Of course we don’t have the incredible Italian Club right around the corner from us anymore.

When my family came for a visit in September, there was a break in the usual home style eating. We tried some of Berlin’s foodie gems based off my sister’s bf’s suggestions. The next few reviews will be from restaurants we experienced on the weekend they spent here. Including Lemke Berlin, a craft brewery that makes the most decadent, over the top, desert I have experienced here.

T-man had 2 things on his mind with regards to food when he and my sister landed in Berlin. Beer and Something Full of Cream, the latter being the main reason why we were at Lemke. What could this decadent sweet thing that goes well with beer be? I present to you:

I am so glad we started with the flight of beers, the bitterness that came before THAT was a great way to prepare the palate. My stomach, too for the assault. After a month of eating loads of salad and fresh dishes, this was bound to send all my vitals through the roof.

Ordering a beer to go with it was also a great idea. The hot sour cherries did well to break the richness of it but the beer helped balance the tastebuds. Was it worth the calories? 100% yes! Should you try it at least once in your life? Hell yeah!

I am sure, based on this and their beer that their other foodie offerings are good too, but we will need to go back for those. We went to Brauhaus Lemke am Hackeschen Markt but I recently discovered that there is a branch right by my house, so if T-man and the Ginger come to visit again, we cant take a walk over and indulge close to home (although the many steps it took to get home from the previous trip really did help the calories go doOOooown)
