6 weeks ago for my birthday breakfast we headed to Dapper.
I had spied the space from the outside and saw a few good reviews here but it was The Husband who picked the spot. A trendy little cafe nestled in amongst privately owned classic and luxury cars, I was never sure what good could come out of a the place. Would it be more about the view than the service and food?
I spoilt myself with a chocochino frappe, which was equally chocolaty and coffee like without being overly sweet, something most places cannot get right. The Husband went for his usual cappuccino which was really well made with out the bitterness of burnt beans.
There are a lot of very nice choices and it was difficult to pick, distracted by some very pretty cars too. I eventually went for the Dapper Benedict with bacon, served on artisanal toasted sourdough bread (or is that toasted artisinal sourdough bread). The hollendaise was creamy and tangy as it should be, perfectly poached eggs and garnished with lovely sundried cherry tomatoes.
The Husband chose Brioche French toast with berries and mascarpone. It must have been really good because by the time I got around to asking for a bite to taste it was all gone. I will need to make the time to head back there to try it for myself.
As an aside, the rest room was also really beautiful and very clean.
Only downside for me was the sweeping and dusting while we were eating
